Using the Outliner in SketchUp: A Step-by-Step Guide

The Outliner is a powerful tool in SketchUp that allows you to see a hierarchical view of your model and quickly access specific components. In this tutorial, we will walk you through the process of using the Outliner in SketchUp.

Step 1: Open the Outliner

To open the Outliner, go to the Window menu and select "Outliner". This will open the Outliner panel, which is usually located on the right side of the screen.

Step 2: Use the Outliner to navigate your model

In the Outliner panel, you will see a list of all the components in your model. You can use the Outliner to navigate your model by clicking on the component names. When you click on a component name, SketchUp will zoom to that component in the model.

Step 3: Use the Outliner to organize your model

You can use the Outliner to organize your model by creating parent-child relationships between components. To do this, select the component you want to make a parent and then select the components you want to make children. Then, right-click on the parent component and select "Make Group" from the context menu. This will create a parent-child relationship between the components and the Outliner will reflect this
